Today we did a fun cheque activity. I gave the students Toys R Us flyers and they chose one item to buy. They had to write a cheque for the amount as well as show their understanding using pictures, numbers and words.
Great idea Ms. Burton - Snow. Sudents can relate to the content and the activity outlined helps solidify students' understanding of place value and number concept generally! Way to go!
Your teacher has a great class blog. Are you blogging yet? If interested and you still are not blogging, ask Ms. Burton Snow to set you up on wwww.kidblog.org. You can write journal entries there as well as add lots on interesting photos etc. (teacher approved of course!).
into the future. It seems that time just got away from us today. We were so busy preparing for our Earth Day Assembly tomorrow that introducing how to change fractions into decimals just didn't happen. We'll see what tomorrow brings. In any case, the Math homework that was orignally planned for tonight has been scraped. Get out and enjoy the nice weather guys!
I had intended to post a photo of the three representatives from our class for the Student Leadership Committee, but alas technology got the better of me. Instead, here is a photo that was taken after our Terry Fox walk last week. Will try the Leadership photo again tomorrow.
Today we went to see the Spelling Bee. The students found the "bee" quite entertaining and loved cheering for their Grade 4 peers. Two Grade 4 students were the big winners! Congratulations are extended again to Cam and Destiny who competed in earlier rounds of the spelling bee.
