Dear Parents and Guardians,

As you are aware we are now finished our Math unit on Multiplication.  Attached to this letter you will find some samples of your child’s work.

You will see a worksheet involving multiplying by 10’s and 100’s.  In addition, there are some Problem Solving assessments.  Each Problem Solving assessment has a scoring guide attached to it.

Another item you will see is a Reasoning question about Joe and his muffins.  You will notice a different scoring guide attached to this piece of work.

Please note that the grades you see on these assessments do not indicate a score that will be reflected on your child’s report card for this term.  When we decided on a grade for your child’s report card we looked at how he/she performed on the assessments attached as well as anecdotal evidence.

Finally, you will see a Base 10 picture attached at the end of the package.  Many of the students have made great progress with their Base 10 representations and we will continue to work on this concept during our current unit on Division.

Thank you for your continued help and support.  Please review the work with your child, sign this letter and have your child return the package to school.

Regards,

Deanne Burton Snow and Christina Pyke
