Chapter 2 Numeration

Test:  Thursday, October 10, 2013

·         You will need to know how to write numbers in standard form.  I will give you some numbers in expanded form and you will be expected to change them to standard form.

·         You will need to arrange numbers from least to greatest or greatest to least.  Be prepared to work with numbers up to and including millions.

·         Rounding – you will need to know how to round decimals and whole numbers.  Be prepared to be able to round whole numbers to the nearest ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand, hundred thousand or million.  Be prepared to round decimals to the nearest tenth or hundredth.

·         You need to know how to write whole numbers and decimals in words. 

·         You will be given a base 10 picture of a decimal number and you will be expected to write the number in standard form.

·         You will have to shade a thousandths grid to show a decimal number. 

·         You will be asked to write the decimal and corresponding fraction for the shaded or unshaded portion of a grid.  The grid could be a tenths, hundredths or thousandths.

·         To prepare for this test you should visit the LINKS page of my blog.  You should review each of the lessons for chapter 2.

·         You have many sheets in your Math duo-tang to help you review concepts.  Make sure you take your duo-tang home each night.

·         To further review for this test I have included a list of key questions from your textbook below.  Please note:  I am not suggesting that you complete all of the activities below.  Choose the ideas that are causing you trouble and spend a little time reviewing those concepts.

·         #2 page 42, #2 page 46, #3 page 52, #’s 1-4 page 55, #2 page 58, #2 page 62, #2 page 65, #2 page 68, #2 page 72, all of the Chapter Review on pages 75-76
